Nobody Likes Long Wait Times – Especially Patients

In order to compete and thrive in today’s healthcare environment, physicians and their staff must adopt proven technology engineered to streamline clinics and ensure that each patient is seen on time. Patients are no longer willing to accept long wait times and expect their healthcare providers to deliver services on time. Outside of a change in their insurance policy, unacceptable wait times are the number one reason patients are switching healthcare providers in 2015.

EHR Software Should Drive Revenue

Now that ICD10 has become the standard for rendering diagnosis codes for the U.S., clinics are now challenged to provide more detailed diagnosis to justify the services billed to 3rd party carriers. The idea of checking off a superbill / charge ticket to communicate with the front office for billing has remained the standard in healthcare for the past 30 years.

Value -vs- Price with EHR

Over the past ten years we have seen both hospitals and physicians change their outboard marketing messages to include billboard, print media and radio to get the attention of the consumer. Regardless of any person’s financial situation, consumers want to know they are getting the best value for the price they pay for goods and services. MD LOGIC ICD10 – READY – SET - GO

Tomorrow is the day most healthcare providers have been dreading for the past year. ICD-10 is finally here and all healthcare providers must begin documenting care with ICD-10 coding. The big question is will ICD10 result in healthcare providers having to open up lines of credit at their banks to help them transition over the next few months? Will insurance companies be the real winners by increasing their claim denials and maximizing their profitability?

MAXIMIZE PROFITABILITY WITH MD LOGIC PM SOFTWARE

To maximize efficiency in clinic, healthcare professionals must adopt technology that streamlines the charges and diagnosis from the EHR to the Practice Management software. With ICD-10 just around the corner, trying to generate a one page paper charge ticket/superbill that incorporates all the clinics CPT and ICD-10 codes will be next to impossible. The only other option will be generating multiple page paper charge tickets/superbills. Do any of these options really benefit the clinic?

ICD-10 / The End of Paper Superbill

Even with all the latest healthcare technology on the market, the vast majority of healthcare providers still use paper charge tickets/superbills to check-off the services provided for each patient visit. At the same time these paper charge tickets/superbills have the most common ICD-9/Diagnosis codes utilized by the clinic. The physician, PA, NP or PT use the paper charge tickets/superbills to report the charges and diagnosis to the front desk.

EHR SATISFACTION WITH PHYSICIANS IN DECLINE

A recent survey with physicians confirms their overall satisfaction with their EHR software is in decline. The American Medical Association (AMA) reported that compared to five years ago, more physicians are reporting being dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with their EHR system. The survey conducted in 2014 reported that more than half of all respondents reported negative impact with their EHR technology.

CONGRESS TAKES STEPS TO DELAY MEANINGFUL USE STAGE 3

Republican Congresswoman Renee Ellmers introduced her Further Flexibility in HIT Reporting and Advancing Interoperability Act (Flex IT 2 Act), which would provide more flexibility in the Meaningful Use program and ensure EHR systems address interoperability challenges. The bill would pause Stage 3 rulemaking to align it with technology advancements and the new merit-based incentive payment system.

As the deadline for ICD10 approaches, healthcare providers now have less than 110 days to prepare for the new government mandate. Beginning October 1, 2015, all diagnosis will need to be coded to ICD10. That means all established patients will need to be treated as new patients and have their problem list updated to comply with ICD10 codes. The good news for MD Logic customers will be the ability to use the MD Logic Patient Kiosk to collect this data and comply with ICD10.
