MD Logic Passes Electronic Prescription for Controlled Substances Functionality Test

MD Logic customers will be happy to learn MD Logic has successfully passed the Electronic Prescription for Controlled Substances functionality test required by the US Department of Justice Department of Drug Enforcement Administration 21 Code of Federal Regulation 1311 Subpart C.

The audit was performed in accordance with the Standards of the Information Audit and Control Association by a Certified Information Systems Auditor and accordingly included testing considered necessary under the circumstances to ensure the required points of functionality required by Drug Enforcement Administration 21 Code of Federal Regulation 1311 Subpart C were functioning and in place regarding the MD Logic EHR v6.0.43.0 for Electronically Prescribed Controlled Substance Application.

In order to use the EPCS service, MD Logic physicians must register for the Verizon Universal Identity Services (VUIS), a division separate from mobile phone services. This will provide a phone/computer app for each physician that will generate a specific random ID number to be entered when electronically prescribing narcotics with MD Logic. Tim McKenna, Vice President of Sales for MD Logic, commented “the new app provides a high level of security to protect physicians against fraudulent narcotic prescribing while at the same time automating the random ID required to release the narcotics prescribed. Our physicians can simply swipe up on their smart phone and the random ID number will be automatically updated to MD Logic to release the narcotic prescription.
