Starting this summer health care providers utilizing the MD Logic World Wide EMR™ will be able to offer their patients 24/7 access to their health records.
Patients will be provided a patient portal to view their health records. The MD Logic patient portal will contact the MD Logic customer clinic and verify the patient requesting health records using a secure login and encrypted password. If the information is verified then the patient health records will be released and updated for the patient to review online.
Thomas Cahill, manager of information technology for MD Logic said “at no time will the patient portal have direct access to our customer’s servers. When a patient logs-in to the MD Logic patient portal the portal will then contact secured MD Logic servers. The secured MD Logic servers will make contact with the customer servers and retrieve the patient health records. The MD Logic secured servers will then provide the data to the patient portal. At no time will our customer’s servers be in direct communication with the patient portal. Having this technology in place provides another level of added protection to our customer’s servers and their patient’s medical health records.”
“Initial testing of the MD Logic secured patient portal has gone extremely well and we look forward to offering this new technology to our customers. The portal has been designed to take the burden out of having our customers try to manager customer access to their health records. The US Government Hi-Tech Act requires all health care providers to provide remote access to their patients and their health records. This is required in Stage I of EMR Stimulus Certification.”
“Busy clinic don’t have time to deal with patients trying to access their health records. Most clinics would need to hire additional staff to support a patient portal. In addition these clinics would need to invest in a more secure firewall and more robust hardware along with other secure technology in order to prevent hackers from trying to access patient records. The MD Logic patient portal has been designed to take care of this responsibility for MD Logic healthcare providers. We want MD Logic health care providers to spend their time with their patient and not have to worry about supporting online access to health records.”
“Our approach to providing online access to the patient’s health records will be the best in the industry. Our development team looks forward to releasing the MD Logic online patient portal this summer.”
