A recent survey with physicians confirms their overall satisfaction with their EHR software is in decline. The American Medical Association (AMA) reported that compared to five years ago, more physicians are reporting being dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with their EHR system. The survey conducted in 2014 reported that more than half of all respondents reported negative impact with their EHR technology. The report confirmed a negative impact in regards to efficiency, productivity and increased costs.
In a similar survey conducted five years ago the vast majority of respondents reported overall satisfaction with their EHR system. The survey reported that 39 percent of physicians were satisfied and 22 percent were very satisfied with their EHR. The current survey reported 22 percent being satisfied and 12 percent indicating they were very satisfied with their EHR.
MD Logic, the leading U.S. provider in high performance EHR solutions, engineers the MD Logic EHR software to increase efficiency, reduce costs and maximize profitability. Thomas J. Bierster, Jr., CEO of MD Logic, Inc., stated "this report only confirms what I have said all along in that most physicians did not invest the time upfront in choosing EHR technology. Since the tax payers were paying for the EHR system and not the physician, most physicians just purchased something assuming that all EHR technology certified by CMS is basically the same. This could not be further from the truth."
“Now physicians have a choice to make moving forward. They can stick with their non-productive EHR and be miserable each day in clinic or they can invest in EHR technology that will increase efficiency, reduce costs and maximize profitability. I am simply amazed at just how bad these competitive EHR systems are designed. When physicians invest in these non-productive EHRs they are promised the moon and quickly find out they just bought ocean front property in Arizona.
“As the leading U.S. provider in high performance EHR solutions MD Logic has quality installations from coast to coast in large clinics, medium sized clinics and in solo practitioner clinics. Regardless of the size of the clinic it all comes down to one patient with one physician rendering a diagnosis and treatment plan. The key to providing productive EHR technology is engineering software that enables physicians, PAs, NPs and medical assistants the speed to document care real time during the patient visit in the exam room. The common mistake made by physicians is thinking that documenting care in the exam room takes away from patient care. The vast majority of these EHR systems are so bad that the vendors encourage their physicians to dictate the clinical note. If your EHR vendor is recommending you dictate your clinical notes then that is a good sign you have purchased a non-productive EHR.”
