Executive Director Software Development
Dave Castles is responsible for the overall software development for the company. He brings over 30 years of experience in software development with over 17 years of that experience focused on developing electronic health record solutions. As the executive director of software development, David provides the leadership to his team of software developers.
His vast experience in software development began immediately after he graduated with his degree in software engineering from Georgia State. Early on in his career David worked on developing the software interfaces for various hardware platforms in the market. At that time the market did not have the standard interfaces that have become the standard with 3rd party hardware.
Many people don’t know but Dave is highly skilled musician and lead guitar player. Prior to becoming a software engineer, Dave had started his college career at the University of Georgia but left after two years to go on the road with a rock band. After several years of touring Dave made the decision to go back and finish his degree and graduated at Georgia State University with honors.
After graduating, David followed his passion for music and founded one of the largest software companies for automated music arrangements. His software would provide a musician with an entire band allowing the musician to arrange and records music without the need for other band members. The company participated in many of the national music association trades shows and was sold both nationally and internationally. One of the highlights for Dave was meeting Jimmy Hendrix father at a national music show. Dave was able to express the impact that his son had on him and his interest in playing guitar.
As MD Logic began to gain market share back in the late 1990’s and early 2000, David was brought in as a software developer to work on several key projects for MD Logic. His skill and expertise in developing and managing software projects for MD Logic become a key factor in our innovative software technology. After managing multiple levels of MD Logic software development, David was promoted to director of software development for MD Logic.
David loves the outdoors and whenever he gets the chance can be found hiking and enjoying the north Georgia mountains. Although David spends a great deal of time managing software development for MD Logic, his time off is spent with his wife, daughter, son and two German shepherds.
The two greatest guitar players of all time would be Jimmy Hendrix and Duane Allman. Both died before they were 30 years old. Just goes to show it does not take a lifetime to accomplish greatness.” Dave Castles
