Physicians will be Responsible for 10% in 2014

23 August 2012

In order to qualify for "meaningful use" incentives in 2014, physicians will face a new hurdle in providing patient care. Plans are underway to make each physician responsible for ensuring that a minimum of 10% of all patients seen in 2014 login and view their health records online. Thomas J. Bierster, Jr., Chief Executive Officer for MD Logic, stated “with all the current responsibilities physicians have in diagnosing and treating patients, this new requirement will bring technology into the “doctor-patient” relationship. Healthcare providers will now be required to invest time and educate their patient on the importance of accessing and monitoring their health record. It simply will not be enough to recommend that their patient access his/her health records online. The doctor will take the responsibility and ensure that 10% of the patients seen in a calendar year access their health records.

“Although this new mandate will add another level time in educating the patient, MD Logic has already implemented a “one touch” system to register any patient online. MD Logic made a great decision to partner with ViewMyHealthRecords.com to simplify this whole process. In speaking with doctors each day the one common thing requested is for MD Logic to continue our quest in rolling out new software designed to save time. Doctors and staff that use MD Logic are able to document “real time” in the exam room. During the visit, the doctor and staff member can quickly provide the option to each patient of offering their health records online. If the patient feels that they would like access to their health records then the doctor or staff can simply make “one touch” of the screen to activate access to their health record.”

“ViewMyHealthRecord.com provides the patient an easy to remember “brand” name. When a doctor or a medical assistant activates a patient account with ViewMyHealthRecords.com, a welcome email with the user login and password is immediately sent to the patient. Since the entire process is easily automated with MD Logic, a patient could access their health record before they leave the exam room right from their smart phone (iPhone. BlackBerry, Android). With MD Logic, our customers will easily be able to achieve the 10% and beyond to justify meaningful use and qualify for the 2014 MU payments.”
